March, 2014 :: “Feel the Burn” Annual Chili Cook-off

“Feel the Burn” Annual Chili Cook-off

This year we not only turned the chili up to eleven, but also added a 5K pre-cook-off race so we could all chow down with a clean conscience.  All told around a hundred people attended and we raised over $700 for Susan G. Komen®.  See our Facebook page for some more photos.

February, 2014 :: Dallas Life Shelter

Dallas Life Shelter

This month several of us volunteered for lunch duty at the Dallas Life shelter near downtown. As in years past, we enjoyed a fast-paced couple hours working alongside resident staff to help prepare and serve lunch for the shelter’s several hundred people.

Dallas Life’s mission is to reach out to the homeless men, women and children of Dallas with food, clothing, shelter, education and long-term rehabilitation programs founded on spiritual principles.

January, 2014 :: Shoes for Orphan Souls

This holiday season idGROUP staff donated 22 pairs of shoes and 12 pairs of socks to the Shoes for Orphan Souls project, who’s mission is to provide new shoes to the world’s 143 million orphans, both in the United States and abroad.

Since 1999 Shoes for Orphan Souls has distributed more than 2.5 million pairs of new shoes and socks to children in 76 countries. While seemingly a very simple thing, a good pair of shoes is vital both to a child’s health and to accessing opportunities like education.

December, 2013 :: Salvation Army Angel Trees

Salvation Army Angel Trees

This upcoming Christmas season idGROUP staff have adopted 50 angels and 13 forgotten angels for the Salvation Army’s annual Angel Tree program. Thanks to the kind folks at our office, that’s 309 gifts for area kids who otherwise might not have gotten much this Christmas.

July, 2013 :: Senior Source Outreach

Senior Source Outreach

For this month’s community service a number of us visited The Renaissance at Kessler Park, a local retirement community. We put on a sock hop, ice cream and bingo social for the residents as part of an outreach program created by The Senior Source.

We had a great time visiting with the residents, and by all accounts they enjoyed the visit as much as we did! Thanks to everyone who participated in brining a little joy to the daily routine of some of our lovely DFW seniors!

June, 2013 :: Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels

We raised $301 yesterday by brown bagging lunch and donating our dining-out money to Meals on Wheels!

The Visiting Nurse Association’s Meals on Wheels program provides a nutritious, freshly prepared, hot meal to Dallas County residents who are unable to provide or prepare their own meals due to illness, advanced age, or disability. These meals are prepared in VNA’s Beatrice M. Haggerty Kitchen and nearly 4,000 volunteers then deliver the meals to the homes of Meals on Wheels clients, along with kind words and a caring spirit. Over one million meals every year are delivered to seniors who are homebound or dining at senior centers in Dallas County.

March, 2013 :: Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity

Several volunteers from the idGROUP went to help Habitat for Humanity “Raise the Walls” for the latest Dallas Project. Braving the cold and the using large power tools, our team made the most of their construction skills and helped a family’s dreams become a reality.
